'Sum and Substance' is a large hosta with heart-shaped, thick, yellow glossy leaves. While this hosta thrives in full and partial shade, it needs sun exposure for its leaves to turn golden in the summer. Hosta 'Sum and Substance' produces fragrant, white bell-shaped flowers in mid-summer. If you provide your hosta with rich, moist soil and consistent watering, it will need very little additional care. Fragrant flowers attract hummingbirds.
